GOETTAFEST UPDATE!

We walked around the barely 2 block "fest"  in Covington, Kentucky. Half of it was people selling crafts, jewelery, candles etc the other half was food! There was your typical fair food...hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, funnel cakes, ice cream. But then there was a bunch of vendors selling Goetta in all different forms. Goetta Burrito, Goetta Burger, Goetta grilled cheese, Goetta balls, Goetta omelets, etc.

We walked around a few times deciding which to try.We tried Goetta 2 different ways. One was a Goetta grilled cheese. It was chopped up Goetta with a healthy serving of american cheese melted between some nice crispy white bread. It was good. Not crazy impressed to be honest...the cheese was a bit over powering, so not much Goetta taste.

Next we tried "Goetta Balls" My husband got the girl behind the counter to laugh out loud when he asked for some "ghetto balls"...it was pretty funny.
The balls were deep fried had a crispy coating over it. MUCH more flavor! You can really feel and see the texture of the Goetta. The taste was a bit greasy, but meaty and had a tiny kick of spiciness to it. Not bad definitely better than the grilled cheese.

My husband and I agreed that it would be best in a breakfast sandwich. Like a Goetta, egg and cheese on a hard roll. Might have to try that sometime!

Over all it was a great experience to try Goetta, interesting what some people refer to as "caviar" like its exquisite food, when there's not much to it. Sometimes simple is the best kind of food.
